Container World sail no 004 seen during the recent Windhoek Regatta
Message from the Rear Commodore (Juniors)
>
> Things have been going well for our juniors the past few weeks. During
> the first of the Grand Prix series hosted by Island Sailing Club, we were
> well represented in all the classes sailing. Michael McNeill showed that
> he is fast becoming a competent Optomist sailor by finishing second
> overall while older brother, Rudi sailed well in the Laser class to take
> victory. Stuart Purchase with Byron Watt crewing contested the 29er class
> as did CJ Despy. Matthew Buckle sailed his Mirror down for some practice
> before heading off to the Eastern and Western Cape Mirror Nationals. Well
> done to all those PYC juniors that participated.
>
> Over the recent long weekend, your Rear Commodore, Ron Pet sailed the L26
> Container World Challenge with a crew of juniors in the RNYC Windhoek
> regatta. The crew of Byron Watt, Dylan Evans, Kelton Bingham, JP Myburgh,
> CJ Despy and Luke Vogelsang sailed extremely well to win the regatta
> overall, a wonderful achievement for such a young crew. The crew not only
> fared well on the water where they achieved two 3rds and a 5th but also
> notched up a 2nd place in the Cryptic Clue competition as well as a 4th
> position in the Potjiekos competition for their school-based theme. A big
> thank you must go to the parents for their support throughout the regatta.
>
> The last weekend of September sees Zululand Yacht Club hosting the Youth
> Provincials for Lasers and Optomists. There are a number of youngsters
> going up for the regatta and we hope to see them fill the top positions in
> their respective classes. Fair winds to all.
